Why You Need Camping Insurance no comments
Going camping is an exhilarating experience but if you are as accident prone as me then you probably have a few worries about what could go wrong while you are away from home.
Of course, camping family holidays aren’t the only sorts of holiday in which things could go wrong. I’ve been robbed while backpacking, lost my camera in a caravan and even twisted an ankle on the beach. On the face of it going camping nowadays isn’t any riskier than any of those things. Maybe it was in the days of hammering in tent pegs with a mallet and bravely dodging wild animals but it seems to me that it is a far more sedate type of trip these days.
But then, that is exactly the point, isn’t it? Anything could go wrong on any type of holiday and that is what insurance is all about. If I am going to be going anywhere further than the corner shop these days I want to get myself covered just in case something goes wrong. Just as I have arranged policies for my house, my car and my cat I really need one to cover myself as well when I am out and about.
It’s Not Going to Happen Again
My camping insurance policy will make sure that I am covered if my stuff is stolen, I suffer an accident or any one of a number of other things. Any sort of incident like this would certainly put a real dampener on my trip if my holiday if I wasn’t covered. Can you imagine the sinking feeling as you realise that your gear has disappeared and that you have no way of getting back home? Actually, I don’t have to imagine it too hard, as that is precisely what happened the time my backpack was nicked in a Spanish bus station. I turned around and could only see the space beside the wall where my bag had been resting just a few minutes beforehand. It is something I don’t ever want to experience again.
So camping insurance makes sure that I can pack my bags and head off with a light heart and a happy heart but is it expensive? I like to get away as often as possible and paying through the nose for insurance every time would take a fair bit of the shine off my camping trips. I got some quotes done online and it turns out that the cost is not going to be a problem at all. It seems that I can also take out an annual policy to cover all of my holidays.
So, what does the easy availability and low cost of camping insurance mean for other people? I am guessing that I am not the only one who has the odd panic attack at the thought of being stranded abroad. Even if you are a more experienced traveller than me you probably feel that it isn’t worth exposing yourself to the risk of something going wrong without sorting out some form of insurance.
